In search of various alternative routes for sustainable trekking and tour development in Nepal, various trekking agencies took the initiative to form this new route. The major theme of this route is to make trekkers acquainted with the local culture, traditions, values and natural beauty of the host place. As the lodging and catering are done at the local’s home it is regarded as the Village Homestay Trail. Moreover, there are no teahouses on this short trekking route but the logistics are on par with any lodges.

Tangting Village

This is an amazing village with majority of the Gurung community nestling harmoniously. The village has 200 clustered houses built in traditional Nepalese design. Major attractions of the village are the astounding scenery of Mt. Annapurna IV & II and Lamjung Himal along with the monastery and Shiva Temple. Apart from these cultural and natural attractions, the traditional awareness of the Tangting villagers will lure everyone. Delicious local dishes which are from the organic farm served with impeccable hospitality would definitely add authenticity for any visitors. The village is situated at an altitude of 1657 m and can be reached in just about 2 hours of jeep drive from Pokhara City. Relish the natural wonders and shower your soul with the cultural programs of the Gurung community consisting of folk music and songs. Trekkers can choose to extend their walking journey to Sikles Village, Yangjakot, Karapu Hill and villages of Lamjung as well.

Karapu Hill Top

Karapu Hill (2077 m) is as beautiful as the famous Poon Hill of the Annapurna Base Camp Trekking route. The hill top can be reached by walking for about 5 hours from Tangting Village. The hill is very famous for its sunrise view. The panoramic view of mountains like Manaslu range, Machhapuchhre, Lamjung Himal and Annapurna Mountain range are seen spectacularly from the top. There are no teahouses or lodges on top of the hill. Therefore, camping is the best way to stay on top of this hill or trekkers can choose to trek back to Tangting or Yangjakot. The feeling of being above clouds that too in very low altitude really is an alluring feature of Karapu Hill. If you are a lover of pristine landscapes, hills and mountains then this is an ideal place to be. The hill is sandwiched between two villages Tangting and Yangjakot. Therefore, during this homestay village trail trekkers can enjoy the ride of such a prolific hill.

Yangjakot Village

Yangjakot Village is situated at an altitude of 1475 m from sea level. This is also a Gurung village with a plethora of natural attractions and cultural wonders. The splendid scene of Pokhara Valley seen from this village is the major feature of this village along with the view of Mountains like Machhapuchhre, Annapurna range and Lamjung Himal. At night the twinkling stars and lights of Pokhara City shower a mystically romantic atmosphere for any visitors. The village has about 230 households of Gurung community in majority and minority of other castes. The village is well settled to serve the visitors with amazing hospitality and locally produced delicacies. If anyone wishes to get rid of the mental drabness and monotonous works of a city then Yangjakot can become the perfect hideaway destination which is just about 1.5 hours of drive from Pokhara City.
