"Island Peak Climbing - Best Climbing Experience for Seasoned & Novice Climbers"

Island Peak Climbing in Nepal is the most popular climbing adventure. It is suitable for both experienced climbers as well as for first-timers. Moreover, the peak climbing itinerary comes along with the Everest Base Camp Trekking.

The peak is also called the Imja Peak in the local language. Imja refers to the landmass in the middle of a lake or a white crystal diamond. It is indeed the most beautiful peak after Amadablam in Everest Region. It is the pride of Dingboche and Chhukung Valley of Khumbu. The increase in the popularity of this peak is its location as well as the technical aspect of climbing.

Journey of Island Peak Climbing in Everest region of Nepal follows the trail of Everest Base Camp Trek. As part of the acclimatization trek before climbing most of the climbers prefer the Everest Base Camp hike. It serves well for the successful ascent of the peak.

After the visit to Everest Base Camp, climbers follow the trail of Chhukung Valley via Dingboche towards Island Peak Base Camp. Last-minute training, gears check and altitude adjustment is made. Early in the morning around 1-2 am the climbing starts. There are 2-3 places where climbers have to use the ladder. We have a highly experienced Sherpa for climbers' assistance. Therefore, heed the instructions of Sherpa during ascent and descent. Ridge walking is the most exciting during the climbing. The top offers plenty of mountain vistas including the best view of Mt. Lhotse.

Book the Island Peak Climbing in Nepal with us. Our Sherpa is a world record holder with whom climbers can get acquainted. Yolo Hike ensures the safety of our climbers through expert trip planning and crew members.

The most exciting event on this day is the sight of Mt. Everest. We will get the first view of Mt. Everest in about half an hour before reaching Namche Bazaar. Acclimatization is key for successful trekking and climbing in Nepal. During every trekking or climbing excursion in Khumbu Namche Acclimatization, the break is imminent.

During acclimatization break, we will do the short hike to Everest View Hotel. From the terrace of the hotel, the vista of mountains (Everest, Cholatse, Tabuche, Lhotse, Nuptse, Amadablam, etc. ) looks stunning. We will spend about an hour there and if time permits visit the Shyangboche airport as well.

We will return back to Namche Bazaar via Khumjung Village. The village is of Sherpa people. We can stroll around their farmlands and villages and observe the typical lifestyle of Sherpa people in their own backyard.

Trekking higher and resting at lower altitudes is the acclimatization mantra. Therefore, we will again use the same teahouse overnight at Namche Bazaar

The weather is unpredictable at high altitudes, so you should stay in a camp for a few days. The importance of hygiene in the success of the climb cannot be overstated. In addition to all of this, you must go through the Island Peak Gears checklist and have a sufficient supply of them.

Experience and Fitness

Climbing peak is not an easy task, you need lots of practice. If you don't have any previous climbing experience then you must train well, postponing is not an option for an achiever. Island Peak is a technical adventure activity in Nepal that necessitates prior trekking experience as well as technical knowledge of peak climbing gear in order to achieve a successful summit. The trip is ideal for adventure-seeking trekkers who are comfortable walking on snow ridges and challenging trails. Walking at high altitudes may cause altitude sickness; a slow and steady walk would be the ideal solution.

Permit

Climbing Island Peak requires a climbing permit. Permits are also required to enter the Sagarmatha National Park. There are regular security checkpoints along the way. To pass through them, you must show your permits. You need a Local (Everest Region) Area Permit for Island Peak Climbing

Altitude Sickness

Altitude sickness is caused by a lack of oxygen in the blood and tissues at high altitudes. Altitude sickness, also known as Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS), occurs only above 2500m. It refers to the negative health effects of high altitude caused by rapid exposure to a low amount of oxygen at high elevations. The main cause of altitude sickness is rapid ascent, which reduces the amount of oxygen available at a high altitude. Headaches, vomiting, tiredness, difficulty sleeping, and dizziness are common symptoms of altitude sickness.
