Gokyo Lake Trek is simply splendid. The Everest region of Nepal is known for its challenging trekking trails. Indeed, the locale is an abode of the World’s Tallest Mountain Mt. Everest (8848.86 m). Arduousness is expected. However, this trekking trail is comfortable even if the final destination reaches up to Gokyo Ri (5357 m).

The itinerary of Gokyo trekking follows the trip plan of Everest Base Camp Trek. The journey is becoming popular among domestic trekkers as well. Therefore, the significance of this trekking trail trip is huge. Spectacular Mountain Vistas of more than 2 dozen of mountains and Sherpa homeland visits make this trekking in Khumbu the most momentous.

“Gokyo Lake Trek – An excursion of fairyland blue turquoise lake valley”

Trekkers trek towards Kyanjuma after the acclimatization rest at Namche Bazaar. From this place, the trail of Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lake Trek differs. Gokyo Lake travelers take the route of Dole Machhermo. The trail is full of green lush forests, river valleys, ridge walking, and waterfalls.

The trail is along the river all the way up to Gokyo Lake. Trekkers must understand that Gokyo Lake is the third lake among the five-lake system of Gokyo. It is within the Ramsar Conservation Area Project of the Nepal Government. During this journey, trekkers visit all five lakes. Along with the sight of the mountains, the excursion of the Himalayan Lakes too makes the investment in the trip worthwhile.

Gokyo Ri Hiking

One of the most interesting activities during the Gokyo Lake Trek is the hiking of Gokyo Ri (5357 m). From the top of the hill, trekkers get the sight of more than two dozen of mountains including 4 of the world’s top ten mountains. Mt. Choyou, Lhotse, Makalu, and Everest are on trekkers’ sight during this hike. Therefore, it is undoubtedly the most spectacular.

Imagine a fairyland; a tranquil place on the shores of a blue turquoise lake overlooking snowcapped mountains. Exactly, the same is possible during Gokyo Lake Trek. Therefore, it is considered the most prolific trekking route in the Everest Region.

Book the Gokyo Lake Trek in Nepal with us. There are numerous options that you can extend while doing trekking. The most famous one is the Chola Pass EBC Trek. Renjo La Pass crossing and the excursion of Thame Village is also possible during this trek.

We strongly advise you to avoid dairy and cheese products, as well as alcoholic beverages, caffeinated beverages, and hot chocolates, as specialists advise against them on high-altitude hikes.

FAQs

  • Q1. How Difficult is Gokyo Lake Trek?

For a walk of this length at such a high altitude, this trek is considered 'moderate'. The summit, at roughly 5,400 meters, is the greatest altitude attained by trekking a path that ascends Gokyo Ri. Because the peak of Gokyo Ri is around the same altitude as Everest Base Camp, this journey is relatively low in altitude. However, you will not be sleeping at this level at any point throughout the trek, and there are fewer nights spent above 4000 meters than on the Everest Base Camp expedition, making it less risky in terms of altitude-related issues.

  • There are very few permits you need to complete Gokyo Lake Trek. You need to take a permit for the Sagarmatha National Park (where you will be trekking through) is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You'll need a TIMS and a Sagarmatha National Park permit for this trek, as with all others in the park. The Sagarmatha National Park where you will be trekking is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You'll need a TIMS and a Sagarmatha National Park permit for this trek, as with all others in the park.

If you are worried Yolo Hike will conclude it in the package where you will take your TIMS permit in Kathmandu so as Sagarmatha National Park permit in Monjo.

  • Yolo Hike is always concerned about your luxury and provides the best for our clients. Teahouses on the Gokyo Lakes trip, like elsewhere in the Khumbu region, are well-developed and relatively comfortable. This region offers a wide range of accommodations, from ultra-low-cost to high-end hotels with hot showers and electric blankets on the mattresses, similar to those found in Nepal's cities. However, not all accommodations, particularly in smaller villages, may be accessible in all grades.

The cuisine will be delicious as well, with dishes like rice and curries, noodles, momos, soup, and Tibetan-style bread on the menu. Potatoes are a staple cuisine in the Khumbu region, and trekking lodge menus here feature them more prominently than elsewhere in Nepal, with fewer other fresh vegetables. As you climb higher, the amount of fresh food accessible decreases, and the cost of food increases.

  • The optimum periods to hike up to Gokyo are spring (March-May) and fall (October-November), as with most treks in Nepal (September-November). The weather is likely to be clear during these months, with pleasant daytime temperatures. The Khumbu region, on the other hand, is noted for being exceptionally chilly and dry, and due to the dry dust, many trekkers suffer the 'Khumbu cough.'

Trekking is normally doable during the summer/monsoon and winter seasons, but you'll need to be prepared for harsh circumstances and may not obtain clear views.

If you are not sure about choosing the correct season Yolo Hike will always be there to help you out simply email us at info@yolohike.com and we will reach you out with the information.
