view from Namche bazarToday is for acclimatization to the altitude. We will follow the standard protocol to avoid altitude sickness. Hike higher and rest lower is the main principle. Therefore, we will hike to Everest View Hotel (3880 m). The view of Mt. Everest, Thamserku, Amadablam, Cholatse, Nuptse, and Lhotse is breathtaking from place.

After spending about 1 hour on the top we will trek back to Namche Bazar from the Khumjung Village route. If time permits, we will visit the mountain museum at Namche. You can stroll around and get acclimatized to the surrounding. Stay in Namche is unique as the place is the highest-situated town in Nepal.

Today, after Breakfast We climb Khumjung Hill and then hike down to the east of the settlement via a vast valley to the Dudh Koshi, where the trail swings north. There are two trails to pick from, and your guide will choose the best one with us. On the ridge top at 3973 meters, there is a chorten that falls from Mt. Khumbila (5761 m). We travel to Mohang, the birthplace of the reincarnated Lama of Tibet's Rongbuk Monastery, who is credited with introducing Buddhism to Nepal's Khumbu region. The trail descends a sandy slope in a succession of steep switchbacks to the Dush Koshi. We spend the night along the river in Phortse Tanga.

We will hike up to Machhermo, an uphill from Phortse Thanga. Before arriving in Tongba Village, we walk along a trail that runs alongside a rhododendron forest and passes through a waterfall. Before reaching Machhermo, we continue our climb through the villages of Dole, Labarma, and Luza. Right before the Luza settlement, there is a Chorten. We'll be strolling alongside the Dudh Koshi River for the duration of our excursion. Overnight at Machhermo.

Gokyo Lake in the backgroundAfter light breakfast, we start by climbing a ridge for a great look down the valley to Kangtaiga as well as up to Cho Oyu (8153 m). As the trail goes through Phangkha, where you might have to tackle with avalanche and had a tough history. We next descend to the riverside before ascending a steep trail to the Ngazumpa Glacier's terminal moraine. The trail levels out after crossing an iron bridge over a creek and continues the valley through the first lake, Longpongo, at 4690 meters. We get an opportunity to see lama footprints on a stone at this point.

The glittering turquoise blue sheet of water gleaming in the sun mesmerizes us as we approach the second lake, Taboche Tsho. We arrive at the third lake, which is connected to the second by a rushing stream. With Cho-Oyu Mountain as a backdrop, Gokyo village lies by the third lake, creating an incredibly stunning image. We go for a walk around the third lake, Dudh Pokhari, after lunch. Overnight in Gokyo.

Gokyo RiThe hiking of Gokyo Ri for sunrise is the best highlight of this trekking. You can view mountains as far as Mt. Makalu from this famous viewpoint. Everest, Choyou, Lhotse, Nuptse, Pumori, Makalu, Amadablam, Cholatse, Kwangde, and many others can be witnessed in 360 degrees. Another hike takes place to 5th Lake is the best place to witness Everest from a different angle. The magnificent Tibetan side can be seen from the Fifth Lake area.

Gokyo-chola-passToday will be one of the most difficult days of the trip. The Cho La pass is not challenging in and of itself, but it is steep and includes a glacier crossing on the eastern side. We must be cautious because the trail is vertical, and ice-glazed boulders may cause problems by making the trail slick. Phedi's trail climbs through a ravine and along a steep path. We arrive at the top of the pass, which is decked with prayer flags, after hiking across the side of a frozen lake. Even as Cholatse peaks to the west, Lobuche to the east, and Baruntse rises sharply to our right, the pyramidal Ama Dablam presides over a range of mountains on the south. Before we reach Dzongla Village, we must cross through some crevasses. Cholatse, Ama Dablam, and Lobuche mountains, as well as Pheriche Village, are all visible from the village.

On the way down, we pass Chola Tsho Lake. We go on and pass by another, much smaller lake than Chola Tsho Lake. Before arriving at Lobuche, we cross the Chola Khola on a bridge. We hike uphill to Lobuche along a path that runs alongside the Khumbu Glacier. When our trail splits in two, we select the left-hand path. We can get a better look at the rising Awi Peak along the way. In the distance, we see a stupa and tombstones. We start downhill after a bit of walking. Overnight in Dzongla.

Everest Base Camp Finally, today is the day we visit Everest Base Camp. Before EBC we will have to walk through moraines and glaciers towards Gorakshep. We will take lunch at Gorakshep and check-in in the room. After brief rest, we will then hike towards Everest Base Camp.

This is probably the most stunning day as you will finally step on the foothill of the world’s tallest mountain Mt. Everest. After spending some time at base camp, we will then return to Gorakshep.

Gorekshep and KalapatharWe begin our walk to Kala Pathar early in the morning to enjoy spectacular views of Mt. Everest as the sun rises. However, we must be prepared to journey in the dark and in freezing temperatures (the temperature varies according to the season). Additionally, there is always the possibility of frigid winds, which are extremely prevalent. The familiar peaks of Lingtren, Khumbutse, Changtse, Everest, and Nuptse tower above us as we continue our walk. We shall reach the summit of Kala Patthar after several hours of ascent. From Kalapathar, the view of Mt. Everest and other Himalayan peaks is breathtaking. We take in the breathtaking Himalayan views before descending to Pheriche, where we will spend the night.

Those going to Everest Base Camp today will have an early breakfast to get a head start because the journey to Everest Base Camp is lengthier than the hike to Kala Patthar. Both groups will have lunch together after returning to Gorak Shep; the afternoon will be spent descending to Pheriche for a nice night's rest.

We make our way down the hillside, which is covered in rhododendron and juniper trees. Our trail follows the Dudh Koshi gorge, rapidly dropping through pine forests, after crossing the prayer-flag-draped bridge over the Dudh Koshi River. We might see beautiful pheasants and mountain goats in the forest. The road eventually leads to Sansa, from which we can see the mountains of Ama Dablam, Thamserku, and Nuptse. Before arriving at Namche Bazaar, we pass through a forest and meandering trails. Namche Bazaar is where you'll spend the night.

  • Private trek to EBC and Gokyo Lakes

I had an amazing 8-day private trek to EBC and Gokyo Lakes. No matter all my requirements and short time, Yolo Hike did a great job with the organization, I appreciate very much the personal attitude. My guide Sonam was very understanding and patient (😁) to me, even when I caught a cold, he reacted very professionally and gave me the right medicals, so I recovered very quickly. Thank you, and see you again in the Himalayas 💗!
