Climbing is non-technical but it doesn't mean that climbers can underestimate it. There are numerous crevasses on the trail. Therefore, one has to heed the instructions of the climbing Sherpa. The most interesting thing about Mera is its landscape. Sleeping in camp overlooking the beautiful stars dazzles you. The sight of mountains like Everest, Lhotse, Choyou, Nuptse, Makalu, etc. undoubtedly endows the everlasting Himalayan experience.

Lukla is the gateway of Mera Peak Climbing. Regular Everest Region trekking or climbing follows the trail of Namche Bazaar. The Mera adventure takes the Hinku Valley trail. Therefore, there are different landscapes and diverse attractions to collect along the way.

Travel Insurance

Yolo Hike strongly advises clients participating in any adventure activity to purchase travel insurance that covers personal injury, medical expenditures, emergency rescue services, and personal responsibility. All clients must be insured for complete expenses that may arise as a result of medical concerns or accidents before participating in any of Wilderness Excursion's tours (this includes helicopter rescue and treatment costs).

Experience and Fitness

Climbing peak is not an easy task, you need lots of practice. If you don't have any previous climbing experience then you must train well, postponing is not an option for an achiever. Island Peak is a technical adventure activity in Nepal that necessitates prior trekking experience as well as technical knowledge of peak climbing gear in order to achieve a successful summit. The trip is ideal for adventure-seeking trekkers who are comfortable walking on snow ridges and challenging trails. Walking at high altitudes may cause altitude sickness; a slow and steady walk would be the ideal solution.

Altitude Sickness

Altitude sickness is caused by a lack of oxygen in the blood and tissues at high altitudes. Altitude sickness, also known as Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS), occurs only above 2500m. It refers to the negative health effects of high altitude caused by rapid exposure to a low amount of oxygen at high elevations. The main cause of altitude sickness is rapid ascent, which reduces the amount of oxygen available at a high altitude. Headaches, vomiting, tiredness, difficulty sleeping, and dizziness are common symptoms of altitude sickness.

FAQs

  • Q1. How difficult is Mera Peak?

Climbing Mera Peak is not particularly complex and does not include a steep technical climb, but the high altitude, which reaches 6461 meters at the top, makes it a difficult climb. We suggest you have training before climbing Mera Peak and average trekkers might find it similar to Everest Base Camp Trek.

  • Mera Peak is one of several peaks that may be found in the area. It offers a panoramic view of Everest as well as the other four highest peaks above 8000 meters. Mount Everest, Cho Oyu, Makalu, Kanchenjunga, and Lhotse can all be seen from the summit. From the summit, the spectacular peaks appear to be breathtakingly lovely.

  • Climbing Island Peak without a guide is nearly impossible, both technically and legally, for an unskilled mountain climber. even, if you have lots of experience and the potential, the legal term does not allow any climbers to attempt the climb without a guide.

  • Mera is one of the few Himalayan climbs that take less than three weeks to complete. You will feel as if you have taken part in a real Himalayan trip, whether you wish to climb the peak or just go along for the ride.
