Gosaikunda Helambu Trek is a beautiful short trekking holiday activity to do in Nepal. If you are searching for the lake, green lush forests, villages, rivers, and mountain vistas in less than a week's vacation then it is an ideal choice. Yolo Hike is the only travel agency to provide an authentic and updated itinerary. Our travel planners recently knitted the itinerary for the 2021 pandemic after an on-field visit.

Our Research and Development team conducted the Langtang Area Trip Management Improvement research during last year's off-season. Therefore, travelers will get accurate information. Much of things changed after the great 2015 earthquake. The area was hit heavily and many travel agencies have not updated the current status. Gosaikunda Helambu Trek is short and sweet as it is not heavily strenuous. However, there is plenty of uphill and downhill walking as these are regulars in every trekking trip in Nepal.

The journey of the Gosaikunda Helambu Trek starts with the bus drive from Kathmandu to Dhunche. Regular Langtang Valley Trek is from the Syaprubeshi route but on this trip, the trekking starts from Dhunche. This trailhead is the headquarter of the Rasuwa district. The trail is on the paved staircase for the most part as trekkers trek on the usual pilgrimage trail. Every year thousands of pilgrims pay a visit to this lake. Green lush forests, waterfalls, and hamlets are typical during trekking. The visit to the local yak and cottage cheese factory is also very fascinating.

Lake has a sacred myth. It is formed by the holy water originating from the rocks. It is believed that Lord Shiva drank all the poison which was about to engulf the world and kept it in his neck. Out of sheer pain, he threw his trident on the rocks and thus originated the water. Therefore, those who drink and dip in the water of the lake will have their sins and pain vanish.

It is very picturesque. Along with the main Gosaikunda Lake, there are other smaller lakes in the vicinity as well. The stroll around the lake provides the enchanting experience of numerous holy glacial lakes.

On the other side of the High Pass is the Helambu village. The village is famous for its Apple production. Buddhists Tamang/Lama people mainly habituate the place. Therefore, it is a chance to understand the culture as well. There are numerous monasteries, pagodas, and Chhortens on the trail. Trekkers return back to Kathmandu from a completely different direction from the trailhead.

Book the Gosaikunda Helambu Trek and find out the wonders and culture of the Langtang Region in less than a week. It is the satisfying trek to do in Nepal in terms of budget and attractions.

Additional Info

Accommodation and meals

Yolo Hike always cares about the extravagance they deserve while traveling and trekking, therefore providing you with handpicked best accommodation and meals. The Gosaikunda Helambu trek was well-equipped, with numerous pleasant lodgings. While the earthquake and landslide killed many people in some communities (most notably in Langtang Village), many other settlements were unaffected, and there are still lots of decent options. Warm blankets, fireplaces, nice beds, the occasional hot shower (for an additional luxury you can pay an extra charge), and a choice of food are all usual here MO: MOs in this region, which are larger and more pastry-like than those in the capital are more famous. as you hike up to Tamang and Sherpa village, you will be provided with typical Nepalese foods and international cuisines.

Getting in and away

Why worry when Yolo Hike is there for you as your best Travel companion, we arrange you with all the basics and infrastructure so getting in and away can be our concern letting you no hassle to deal with. Still for your information, to begin your walk-in Langtang National Park, you must first drive to Syabrubesi, Dunche, or Sano Barkhu. From Kathmandu, public buses are available, but they are slow. A private car or jeep is a far superior alternative. Unless you hike across Gosainkunda and back through Helambu to Kathmandu, you must return via the same path.

Permits and Regulations

A TIMS card and a Langtang National Park pass are required as a permit. If you're traveling with a Yolo Hike, we will take care of these details for you. You'll need to get your TIMS permission in Kathmandu and your Langtang National Park permit in Dunche if you're organizing the trek yourself.

Alternative

The Langtang Gosaikunda Trek provides you with the classic Langtang Valley or an option as Langtang Gosaikunda and more which combines you with the neighboring Tamang Heritage path for an additional 4-6 days of hiking. There you will learn more about the Tamang ethnic group, who originated in Tibet.

Yolo Hike provides you with the alternative for driving back to Kathmandu, trek over Gosainkunda. Gosainkund is a stunning high-altitude blue lake. It is better to trek to Gosainkunda on the way back from Langtang than on the way up, as it demands a fairly steep ascent, and you will be better acclimatized at this stage, making the lake's height (4,380 m.) less of a concern. (If you're hiking this path without a guide, be especially cautious about the altitude—a deadly inaccuracy in a widely available trekking map that inaccurately shows various altitudes has caught many trekkers off guard.) Before leaving, double-check all elevations.)
