Risks during Trek

It's important to understand that trekking in a developing country carries the danger of bodily injury or death. You must accept these dangers and take responsibility for your actions and participation. Adventure travel necessitates an open and adaptable mindset. Extreme weather and unpredictable weather are possible. The itinerary may change at the last minute due to circumstances beyond our control. Our journeys rely heavily on our ability to function as part of a group.

For our Kangchenjunga Circuit hike, we conducted a danger and risk assessment. Our trips are not without risk. This is part of the appeal of adventure travel, and one of the reasons why so many people choose to participate in this type of vacation. We determine the amount of risk by recognizing the risks. We've put controls in place to prevent this from happening or to lessen the impact.

Weather and Conditions

The temperature of the Kangchenjunga Circuit walk varies greatly. Season, altitude, and time of day all influence this. The nights in the mountains between 1,000 and 3,500 meters will be cold, at 5 degrees Celsius. Temperatures might reach 25 degrees Celsius during the day. Temperatures at higher altitudes ranging from 15 to -15 degrees Celsius.

Nepal's trekking season runs from late September to early May. The months of October and November are often thought to have the nicest weather. Spring is a popular season since it is warmer than Autumn. There's also the benefit of seeing blooming spring flowers and rhododendrons.

FAQs

  • Q1. Which is the best time to trek Kanchenjunga?

Autumn (September-November) and spring (March-May) are the best times to trek in Nepal (March-May). Autumn is a wonderful time of year (September-November) Autumn is one of the best seasons for hiking. It's that time of year when the trails are surrounded by lush woodlands and vibrant rhododendrons. You can relax and enjoy the tranquility of the mountains, the clear sky, and the ideal weather and temperature. Spring is in the air (March-May) As winter draws to a close, spring ushers in a lovely setting for hiking. The weather is pleasant, and the views of the mountains are breathtaking. During this time, wildlife is also observed basking in the sun's warmth. Summer (June-August) is a wet season, thus traveling at this time is risky. The trails are covered in snow during the chilly winter months (December-February) and the trek is more difficult.

  • The Kanchenjunga Trek takes you through Nepal's breathtaking grandeur. It is evident in the scenery, forests, wildlife, and culture of the country. It's impossible to visit both Northern and Southern camps on the same trip due to the region's isolation and nature. However, you can accomplish so by extending your journey by a few days. You can select between either two base camps to shorten your travel. Kanchenjunga North Base Camp Trek or Kanchenjunga South Base Camp Trek are the two options. The North Base Camp is more adventurous due to the height of Pangpema View Point (5388m). It contains more wildlife and greenery than the South Base Camp, which extends to Oktang.

  • Under the controlled tourist strategy, Kanchenjunga is a restricted region. This signifies that entering this location requires a specific permit. It also means that you must be accompanied by a registered trek guide throughout the trek. This isn't necessarily a negative thing; it means the area will remain less touristy, and walking with a guide is always the best option, both in terms of safety and cultural and local understanding.

You won't have to worry about obtaining the permit because your agency will handle everything for you, but it never hurts to be informed.

    Permit Required for Kanchenjunga Trek

For the trek in Tapethok and Yamphuding VDCs, you'll need a Kanchenjunga Conservation Area Project Entry Permit (KCAP) and a Restricted Area Entry Permit.

This permission must be obtained through a legitimate Nepal-based travel agency. To receive permission, a group of at least two hikers is required.
