For centuries, Lhasa (the Forbidden City) has been the heart and soul of Tibet, and it continues to be a city of miracles. Lhasa has remained Tibet’s spiritual, political, and economical center throughout its history. The majority of Tibet’s famous monasteries and cultural assets are located in Lhasa. A journey to Lhasa is more than just a tour of Tibet’s capital; it is also an opportunity to learn about Tibetan culture, visit countless heritage sites, and observe Tibetan daily life. Potala Palace spectacularly dominates the Lhasa skyline. The grand cathedral, the Jokhang, is Lhasa’s spiritual center and most revered temple where Buddhist monk plays a Debate in a historical manner that illustrates to you the Buddhist past culture. The lively and colorful Barkhor market, as well as the religious pilgrim circumambulation circuit, surround the Jokhang Temple. Visits to Tibet's famous monastic establishments, Sera and Drepung Monastery, and Norbulinka, are among the other highlights. There used to be up to 10,000 monks whereas there used to be none. Lhasa offers a different experience in terms of scenery and ambiance.

Lake Manasarovar, Tibet's holiest lake and the world's highest freshwater lake, is located in the extreme western Tibet Ngari Prefecture, which is known for being 'not far' from the Mighty Mount Kailash. For the thousands of pilgrims who participate in the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra, this indomitable lake is no less than a 'Spiritual Satisfaction.’ Hindus believe that Lord Brahma created the celestial Lake Manasarovar to provide a beautiful spot for his sons to bathe after their journey through the divine country. On the other hand, the mother of the fabled Buddha was taken to this location by the gods and bathed in the holy lake of Manasarovar until her body was pure, according to Buddhists. If you want to take some photos of Mount Kailash and the pristine Lake Manasarovar, go to the Jiwu Gompa, which offers a panoramic view of Lake Manasarovar and Mount Kailash, especially on sunny days.

Inner kora is permitted by 12 mountain circuits, including the (Nandi Kora) Serdung Chhuksum La pass and Khando Shanglham La pass (Dakini route), and 108 rounds will ensure Lord Buddha's attainment of Nirvana. Buddhists, Hindus, Jains, and Bonpos regard this sacred peak as the center of the cosmos.

We plan a V.V.I.P Lhasa Ali Kailash tour with the premium service and facilities you will ever get on the Journey. If you have your party of family or friends, or if you wish to enjoy the holy pilgrimage discreetly, please contact Yolo Hike. Tradition and Culture

This region has been the final aim for pilgrims for thousands of years. For Hindus, Jains, Buddhists, and Bon, it is the abode of the Gods. Mount Kailash is known in Tibet as Tise (the peak) of Khang Rinpoche, standing at 6714 meters (Jewel of Snows). Mount Kailash is the home of Hindu God Shiva and his wife Devi for Hindus, and Tibetan God Demchong and his consort Dorje Phangmo for Tibetans.

According to mythology, Milarepa, a great Tibetan Yogi, and master of Tantric Buddhism fought Naro-Bonchung, a grandmaster of Bon, to show the superiority of Buddhism. Many competitions were held, but the most important was to see who could reach the summit of Mt Kailash first in the morning. Naro-Bonchung flew towards the mountain on his Damaru (ritual drum), only to be overtaken by Milarepa at the last moment. Naro-Bonching was so taken aback that he let go of his drum, which tumbled down the mountain, leaving a vertical scar on the south slope.

Precautions to follow

Most persons are affected to some extent by a lack of oxygen at high elevations (above 2,500 m). The human body needs time to establish physiological mechanisms to cope with the lower oxygen levels as altitude rises. Acclimatization is the term for this procedure. High altitude sickness necessitates the use of Diamox (Acetazolamide) tablets. Please visit your doctor for a prescription, since these tablets must be started three days prior to your arrival in Kathmandu. This medication must be taken for the duration of the trip. Those who are allergic to sulfa medicines can take Gingko Biloba, a natural supplement that can be purchased online.

During the trip, participants will be taught simple, yet effective, acclimatization techniques. Throughout the tour, the party will be accompanied by a competent doctor who is highly prepared to deal with high altitude sickness and other illnesses that may emerge. All necessary medications and equipment, including life-saving oxygen cylinders and Gamow bags, will be carried by the doctor.

First Aid Kit

You must carry a First Aid Kit during your Kailash Mansarovar journey, Diamox, aspirin, painkillers, Lip balm, Mustard, oil, Vaseline, Plasters, TCP, salt, mint, Vicks for sore throats are all items you should have in your first aid kit or personal medical kit (average hiking kit for mild injuries/ our guide will also have).

If you have any other health issues, seek medical advice before changing your medicine for high altitude. there are never sure about the climates and how the weather changes, if you have never accomplished the high-temperature before, altitude sickness can be a major issue for you so, having a First Aid Kit with you can be a partner in necessity. We also have medically trained and tested Guides who have high knowledge about the use of First Aid which helps you in an emergency.

Alternative Evacuation

The Chinese government has a fundamental regulation that everyone must enter and exit together. As a result, everyone should travel in a group. However, if one of the members becomes ill or has another problem while on the journey, he or she should be evacuated promptly because there is no hospital or medical assistance available. In this situation, we will have to organize additional services for which the evacuating passenger will be responsible. Every passenger is required to acquire travel/medical insurance to cover any unexpected expenses. Yolo Hike doesn’t sell any travel insurance so, make sure you have all the insurance, we can suggest you the best as per the experience about our previous clients. If you have further inquiries, feel free to email us at info@yolohike.com

  • The three-day Kailash Parikrama is the most difficult part of the Mount Kailash Tour. Darchen is the starting point for the 52-kilometer trip (4,560m). You pass through Lha-Chu Valley, Lham-Chu Valley, Dzong-Chu Valley, and Darchen. You would spend one night in Dirapuk Monastery and the next in Zuthulpuk Monastery during the Kailash Kora. The Kora around Kailash Mountain has an average altitude of roughly 5,000 meters, and the average daily walk is about 7 to 8 hours. Every pilgrim who travels to Kailash to complete the Kailash Kora walks clockwise around the Kailash Mountain, passing via the highest pass, Dolma La. (5645m).

  • Tibet's official currency is the Yuan, but other currencies such as the US dollar, Euro, and British pound are also accepted. However, before traveling to Tibet, we recommend exchanging your money for Yuan. If you're coming in through Kathmandu, change your money at any of the city's money exchanges. You can also exchange money or use ATMs in Lhasa if you arrive from mainland China. Because finding ATMs or banks in rural areas of Tibet is difficult, it is recommended that you bring CASH with you to cover all of your expenses. Please consult your travel agency to determine how much you should carry for the trip, as it is dependent on your trip package.

  • The optimum time to visit Mount Kailash is from April until the end of September, while the greatest time to tour central Tibet is from November to December. From early November to early April, extreme weather changes make travel to Everest Base Camp problematic; also, throughout the winter season, roads in eastern Tibet, particularly around Mt Kailash and western Tibet, may be closed owing to heavy snowfall.

  • There are no direct flights from India to Lhasa; all planes must connect via Kathmandu or a Chinese airport. Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu is the only airport outside of China that propositions direct flights to Lhasa. Which includes Nepal to Lhasa trip.
